Jon Moxley Done With GCW After World Title Loss

Losing to Nick Gage means the end of Jon Moxley in GCW - for now...

Jon Moxley is done with Game Changer Wrestling for the time being, having dropped the company's World Championship to Nick Gage over the weekend.

Fightful Select reported as much on Sunday. While there is a belief that Moxley will retain the ability to work independent dates under his new five-year AEW contract, such things will likely be kept as surprises as opposed to promotions announcing Mox ahead of time.

AEW announced on Friday that Moxley had signed a five-contract extension that would see him "work exclusively for AEW and its international partners." That this term was included in a press release issued the night before his GCW match with Gage raised questions on whether or not it would go ahead. It did, with Gage putting his career on the line for a shot at Mox's World Championship, then taking the win in a bout that brought interference from AEW's Stokely Hathaway and W. Morrissey.

GCW sources have indicated that AEW didn't want Moxley to do the Gage match. Moxley, however, insisted. As he isn't scheduled for any further GCW events at the moment, he wanted to conclude his run there.

Moxley was GCW World Champion for 399 days, having defeated Matt Cardona for the strap in September 2021.
