Fresh off mounting a triumphant return to All Elite Wrestling, Jon Moxley is now on his way back to his other home in the sport as well.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that the former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion will make his comeback at Windy City Riot. This takes place in Chicago, Illinois on 16 April, with tickets on sale later today.

Moxley's participation was confirmed with a short promo in which he called himself the promotion's boogeyman:-

This will be the first time Mox has wrestled on an official New Japan show since 17 October 2021, when he and Eddie Kingston fought Suzuki-gun's Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer at the company's STRONG tapings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A few weeks later, Moxley took a hiatus from wrestling to enter an inpatient alcohol treatment program for a couple of months, before returning to AEW happier and healthier for the 19 January episode of Dynamite.

A two-time IWGP United States Champion, Moxley's last run with the strap ended on an AEW Dynamite defeat to Lance Archer in a 21 July Texas Deathmatch. Archer subsequently dropped it to Hiroshi Tanahashi 24 days later, meaning the belt returned to Japan for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic's onset.
