Kevin Owens freely admits that leaving WWE wasn't out of the question around 18 months ago before he inked a new deal with the promotion.

The babyface told Ariel Helwani for TNT Sports that a conversation with Vince McMahon made it clear he was still wanted, but that wasn't the only reason why he stayed.

Get this: KO couldn't comprehend the thought of never seeing friends he has on the backstage crew again. He might only see some of the lighting techs, sound techs and other backstage workers when he's on the road, but Kev has become close to many of them.

He explained that friendships with the actual wrestlers should be considered different - he'd have more of a chance of staying in touch with them that he would the non-wrestling crew. Being behind the scenes at WWE events is his only hope of seeing these men and women, and he didn't like the thought of giving that up.

"I couldn’t imagine leaving these people behind and never seeing them again", he added.

Owens also thinks it's important that more folks recognise the hard work these crew members put in before, during and after WWE events.
