Kofi Kingston wrestled his first WWE match in over a month last night, teaming with New Day partner Xavier Woods to defeat RETRIBUTION's Slapjack and T-BAR on Raw, continuing the feud between the two tandems.

A relatively straightforward tag bout saw Woods play the face-in-peril through a commercial break before Kingston made his hot tag. Slapjack was quickly downed, much to Mustafa Ali's frustration on the outside, and Woods and Kingston took the win after hitting the former Shane Thorne with Day Break. The New Day then fled T-BAR and Mace's attempt at coming for them after the bell.

Kingston had been shelved with a jaw injury while wrestling The Hurt Business on the 28 December episode of Raw. Though he competed the following week, it was clear he needed some time on the shelf, leading to a four-week absence. Kofi then returned backstage at Royal Rumble 2021 and accompanied Xavier to the ring on the following night's Raw, though yesterday was his first match since facing The Miz and John Morrison on 4 January.

Last night's post-match angle means there is almost certainly more to come from The New Day and RETRIBUTION.
