Kurt Angle Says He's Not Retiring From Pro Wrestling

The former olympic gold medalist may have a future in wrestling after all.

Kurt Angle recently took part in TNA Wrestling's Maximum Impact 8 tour in the United Kingdom. The tour was advertised as Angle's farewell with TNA Wrestling, a company that he was worked for nearly a decade following an 8 year relationship with WWE. Many had assumed that Angle's departure from TNA meant that he is winding down his wrestling career, but in a recent interview with ESPN, Angle expressed a desire to continue working matches in the future. Angle said that he is hanging up his tights for one year to spend more time with his family, but he is open to returning following that hiatus. Angle told ESPN.co.uk:
€œI€™m gonna take a break from wrestling, I know that for sure, at least a year. So we€™ll see how it goes and I€™ll go from there.€ €œI€™m not gonna say I€™m gonna retire. I am pretty much done with TNA. Not sure, maybe down the road, maybe I might come back, but most likely I probably won€™t, because there€™s a chance that I might not wrestle again. I just wanna get a feeler this year and see what I wanna do and see where I wanna go.€
Another frightening tidbit that was revealed in the interview was Angle revealing that he suffered a concussion during the TNA U.K. tour's first night, January 29 in Manchester. However, Angle said he was medically cleared by doctors for competition the very next night in London and the following night in Birmingham. Given the recent revelations regarding concussions in sports, it's quite surprising that Angle would be cleared by a medical professional to compete just one day after suffering a concussion. One of Angle's final matches that was recorded during the U.K. tour, a bout with Bobby Roode, will air this Tuesday evening as part of Impact Wrestling on POP.
