Kurt Angle Says It's Unfortunate His Best Years Were With A "Smaller Company"

Take that TNA...

Kurt Angle TNA Champion Hard Justice 2007

Mark Freund of WHO-HD caught up with Kurt Angle for a brief interview recently, and the WWE legend discussed his decision to leave the company for TNA in 2006.

During the chat, Angle admitted it's "unfortunate (his) best years were with a smaller company", but said he had to leave WWE for his own personal wellbeing and health. He hinted that he regrets not being able to stay with the promotion and work his prime years there.

After departing WWE, Kurt plied his trade for TNA between 2006-2016, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Title six times, the Tag-Team Titles twice and holding the X-Division belt once. The veteran was also inducted into TNA's Hall Of Fame in 2013.

His choice of wording was interesting here. Instead of naming TNA, or putting over the company now called Impact Wrestling, Angle decided to simply refer to them as a "smaller company". Accurate, sure, but probably annoying to some who fondly remember Kurt's TNA run.

The Olympian spent a full decade in the company, and worked sterling matches against everyone from AJ Styles and Samoa Joe to Nigel McGuinness and Sting.
