Kurt Angle Set To Sign New Deal With WWE

Has the Hall of Famer signed a new deal?

When WWE announced an unprecedented talent cull last month, attributing the large of number of releases to the current global situation, one of the most surprising names not to be retained was that of Kurt Angle.

However, despite no longer been under contract with the company, Angle has still appeared on WWE TV, returning to feature as the special guest referee in the epic Fight Pit match between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher on the most recent episode of NXT.

Many assumed that Angle's appearance meant that the Olympic gold medalist had signed a new deal with WWE, but that does not appear to be the case at this time, at least according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

We have not heard anything regarding Angle and a new deal. It was noted to us that Angle is still being paid through mid-July like the rest of the people on main roster contracts that were released.

Meltzer also noted that WWE is currently planning on using some of the released talents while their 90-day no-compete clause is still in effect.

However, it appears that a more recent report from inside the WWE suggests that Angle will be offered a new contract. A WWE source told Wrestlingnews.co that the company does not want the Hall of Famer appearing for the competition:

"If they haven’t signed him already then they will make an offer to him soon. Vince doesn’t want to lose him to AEW."
