Legendary singer Jerry Lee Lewis had his lawyers contact WWE about their use of 'Great Balls Of Fire', according to Jerry 'The King' Lawler.

Speaking via his Dinner With The King podcast, Lawler said that the rock star's legal team only contacted WWE after promotion for the July pay-per-view had already begun. Lewis and Lawler share the same attorney, which is why the WWE Hall Of Famer was used as the middle man in attempts to broker a deal between both parties.

Joe Barton, the legal representative of both Lewis and Lawler, wanted to clear up exactly why WWE had decided to use the title of his client's 1957 classic without contacting Jerry Lee Lewis for permission.

Eyebrows were raised amongst wrestling fans when it was revealed that WWE planned to name the pay-per-view Great Balls Of Fire in the first place, but it seems viewers weren't the only ones left scratching their heads. Barton got in touch with WWE through Jerry Lawler, and both sides were eventually even able to come to an agreement on using the timeless track as part of the show's promotion.

Had WWE jumping the gun angered Lewis and his legal team, there's every chance we wouldn't be getting Great Balls Of Fire at all.
