Lucha Underground's 34 Wrestlers - Ranked From Worst To Best

19. Hernandez

Pros: - Multiple tag team championship reigns in the past - Great mainstream exposure from TNA - Perfect LU heel Cons: - May or may not be PLAYING a heel - Notoriously sloppy and lazy - Doesn't believe in dragons Hernandez inadvertently became the biggest heel in Lucha Underground by playing his standard babyface character in a promotion where good guys try hard and care about things. Because the writers of the show also try hard and care about things, he was quickly repackaged as the worst person in the world, a self-centered goon who disrespected lucha tradition and said dragons aren't real. Whether or not the actual worker felt he was too good for Lucha Underground and determined to mail it in is anyone's guess, but the guy got nuclear heat when that became his official character. From whining to Dario Cueto about not getting immediate championship matches to his constant pimp-strutting, he was the absolute perfect heel for the LU universe. Fittingly, he was sent packing by Drago -- whose traditional lucha libre silliness and Cinderella Man narrative marked him as Hernandez' foil -- and the Temple denizens themselves in a combination leather strap/lumberjack match. He got belted so hard in the face that it looked like he was wearing a damn red headband, and shipped off to TNA, who shipped him off to who knows where. Sometimes a guy is perfect for a role, and Hernandez was perfect for this. Final Rating: ***3/4
