Why has Adam Cole been off AEW TV lately?

Having not wrestled in over seven months, there's now a notable update on the AEW status of Adam Cole.

In addition to not wrestling, some have likely noticed that Cole has been absent from AEW entirely in recent weeks. As per Fightful Select, this is due to the Undisputed Kingdom man having been off the road lately because it's been hampering his recovery from the freak ankle injury he suffered last September.

This isn't to say that Adam Cole won't be appearing on AEW programming at all, but that he won't be appearing as regularly as he had been in recent months. Of course, 2023 ended with the Worlds End PPV where Cole was revealed as the Devil and the leader of what became the Undisputed Kingdom, and that in itself resulted in Cole and that faction being a pivotal part of AEW TV throughout the start of the year.

As for Cole's injury status, Fightful reports that the former ROH World Champion is "not very close" to returning to the ring and there is currently no timeline for his recovery.

Adam Cole last wrestled in September at All Out 2023, teaming with MJF to defend the ROH Tag Team Titles against John Silver and Alex Reynolds. Barely two weeks later, Cole injured his ankle at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, landing awkwardly when jumping off the ramp as he made his way to the ring to cheer on MJF against Samoa Joe.
