4. She Sings Her Own Entrance Theme
Those who've been watching AEW's most recent tournament (or simply read the previous entry) will know that, like Shawn Michaels before her, Maki Itoh sings her own theme tune.
Where Maki Itoh improves on the the Heartbreak Kid is that she also sings it while making her way to the ring.
(Incidentally, if you want to pull any quote of this article out of context, "Maki Itoh improves on HBK" is a good choice).
AEW fans will have seen Maki perform her latest theme song - the excellently-titled "Brooklyn The Hole" - during the recent Eliminator Tournament, but to see her at her best you should watch the above video clip. The live audience definitely makes Maki's entrance feel more special, as they enthusiastically cheer her performance and echo the "Woah-Oh!" chorus back at her.
Maki Itoh may not be main event material yet, but her attention-grabbing entrance and high-energy persona mean she is tailor-made for pulling the curtain. The opening act of any wrestling show needs to get the audience pumped up, and The Fired Idol can already do that better than most.
As for why people call her "The Fired Idol", that's quite the story...
