Mariah May Entering Contract Year, Potential Free Agency (AEW News)
AEW won't want to lose Mariah May, but WWE will surely be paying attention.

Fightful Select is reporting that "a number of staff, wrestlers and higher ups" within AEW reckon celebrated breakout star Mariah May is currently "in a contract year". It's believed that May's deal with Tony Khan's company expires sometime this coming summer, but the website hasn't heard whether or not All Elite chiefs have an optional year (or more) extension as part of the contract.
However, one source did say they'd be "shocked" if option years hadn't been placed in Mariah's contract before now, because she's received a mega-push on TV and it'd be in AEW's best interests to protect themselves if they're going all in on talent.
Unsurprisingly, Fightful also reports that Khan would prefer to retain May's services rather than let her leave. The Brit has earned huge critical acclaim for her performances opposite the similarly-excellent Toni Storm during a protracted AEW Women's Title feud that peaked with a brutal 'Falls Count Anywhere' match at Revolution 2025 on 9 March.
That pay-per-view brought the curtain down on May's time as AEW Women's Champion, and the bout was considered one of the highlights on a frankly stacked card.
Fightful has reached out to Mariah for comments, but did also note that AEW doesn't officially offer comment on the contract status of those currently on the roster.
Opinion: WWE Would Surely Be Interested In Signing May

Nothing from this point on was included in Fightful's write up on May's contract situation. It's merely one writer's opinion, but it does make logical sense.
WWE and Triple H would surely be interested in talking terms with Mariah if she's available this summer. At 26, May's best years remain ahead of her, and she's shown more than enough during her rivalry with Storm to suggest she'd thrive in WWE if given the chance. Some might be concerned that she'd be plonked on NXT and forgotten about, but the women's division on WWE's third brand is red hot right now.
Shawn Michaels has shown an ability to properly develop emerging talents and ready them for bigger platforms like Raw and SmackDown. He has good synergy with real-life pal Hunter there. Together, they'd be able to harness May's existing skills, improve them further and then turn her into a female megastar on the main roster - in theory, at least.
It's hardly surprising that AEW and Tony Khan want to keep May on their books a while longer, but she'll head to WWE eventually. That's the grander stage, after all. Of course, it wouldn't be a nightmare outcome for Mariah if she inked fresh terms with All Elite and received a bump in pay for doing so.
Again, her best years lie ahead.
