With Matt Hardy expected to leave WWE when his contract expires on March 1st, it’s being speculated that Hardy could eventually be revealed as the brains behind All Elite Wrestling’s Dark Order stable.

According to Dave Meltzer over at The Wrestling Observer, the Broken One is the leading name to be the higher power who’s pulling the strings of The Dark Order.

In recent months, Hardy has been putting together his own Free the Delete videos that have been hinting at a return to the ‘Broken’ – or at least ‘Woken’ – Matt Hardy character. It’s believed that the veteran grappler was hoping to use these videos as a way to refresh his on-screen presence within WWE.

Now though, with WWE showing little interest in showcasing Matt in any major way, it appears that the elder of the Hardy brothers will be leaving WWE come March.

Should Matt Hardy become a free agent, he’d likely have his pick of destinations. Sure, his in-ring days are clearly winding down as age begins to catch up with the former Impact Wrestling Champion, yet Matt’s brain for the business and overall on-screen presence could be hugely valuable for a growing company such as AEW.

Don’t be expecting WWE to allow Hardy out of his contract prematurely, but March should certainly be an interesting month for the tag team legend.
