More WWE Releases Expected

Further WWE releases are expected to become a regular thing.

With WWE having released another 13 names this past Friday, it looks as if there are still even more releases to come.

As per Fightful Select, a WWE source indicates that these sort of mass releases are expected to become a regular occurrence as the company looks to deal with the sheer number of talent stashed under WWE contract.

Since 2018, WWE has been hoarding as much talent as possible, with one reason for that being the promotion's original plan to develop numerous Performance Centers across the world - and having each of these 'territories' have their own stars.

That plan was initially delayed when NXT was gearing up to make the move to USA Network, and then a far greater factor emerged in the shape of the COVID-19 pandemic that halted so much national and international travel.

For any and all releases being made, WWE is said to be operating very much on a "it's only business" mentality, regardless of reported frustrations and low morale being experienced by members of the company's roster.

Fightful also notes that, while these releases are a "collaborative" effort, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon obviously has final say on such firings. As such, McMahon has the power and input to veto any releases should he see fit to do so.

More releases are expected to happen throughout 2021, with hopefully the sheer number of such mass firings calming somewhat by next year.
