New Backstage Details On Ronda Rousey Returning At WWE Royal Rumble 2022

Following yesterday's news that WWE has discussed the idea of bringing Ronda Rousey back for this weekend's Royal Rumble 2022 and that the former Raw Women's Champion is "on the books" for a WrestleMania 38 match, it is now believed that any comeback is in Rousey's hands.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson has confirmed that at least one WWE official flew out to meet Rousey in California last week. On top of this, Abraham Esparza, who was used as Ronda's stylist and makeup artist during her last run with WWE, is being brought to Saturday's Royal Rumble as well as Raw two nights later.

The comeback is "all on Rousey," according to Johnson. WWE are game for it and, per yesterday's reporting, would like it for WrestleMania.

A Royal Rumble win before challenging Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch on 2/3 April has been speculated for Rousey. This would make sense, given that WWE is yet to place the two in a singles match following their planned Survivor Series 2018's cancellation.

Ronda stepped away from WWE after competing in the WrestleMania 35 main event in April 2019, doing so to start a family. Her and husband Travis Browne's first daughter together was born in September 2021.
