New Interest In CM Punk

CM Punk to WWE might be off (for now), BUT...

CM Punk
AEW

IMPACT Wrestling would "welcome" CM Punk to its roster if given the opportunity.

This is per Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, who said as much on X earlier this week, reposting a user who'd asked if there was a chance of Punk showing up at this Saturday's Bound for Glory 2023 pay-per-view in Cicero, Illinois.

Sapp posted:

I know a lot of people scoff at it, but yeah IMPACT would welcome CM Punk. Beyond obvious reasons, people said he was really great backstage when he visited

Fightful Select reported in April that Punk had been backstage at IMPACT's Cicero television tapings, where he was "welcomed", and spent time mingling with IMPACT roster members and taking photographs. The Chicagoan was said to be in a "good mood" while visiting.

Punk was off television at the time, having been served an indefinite suspension for brawling with The Elite after All Out 2022, where he also suffered a serious arm injury while wrestling Jon Moxley.

AEW fired Punk with cause in early September. This came after his latest backstage fight, as he and Jack Perry scrapped at August's All In pay-per-view, effectively triggering Punk's downfall in the Tony Khan-helmed promotion.

WWE has been heavily linked with bringing Punk back to the promotion he quit in 2014, though recent reporting has poured cold water on such rumours.
