While so much of the wrestling talk lately has been regarding Adam Cole's WWE future, Pete Dunne is another NXT talent whose current WWE deal is soon expiring. And now, there's an update on exactly when the Bruiserweight will, as it stands, become a free agent.

Per the Wrestling Observer, the belief is that Dunne's WWE contract formally expires on 1 September.

Unless a new deal can be agreed upon, the former NXT UK Champion will be able to work for any other wrestling promotion as soon as his current WWE deal expires - with the natural expiry of said deal meaning that no non-compete clause will be in place.

The 27-year-old Dunne has been with WWE since 2017, penning an official contract shortly after being announced to compete in the two-night tournament designed to crown the first ever NXT UK Champion; a tournament he'd lose to Tyler Bate in the final of.

Dunne would eventually topple Bate to become NXT UK Champ, embarking on a 685-day reign that was halted at the hands of WALTER. More recently, the 14-year veteran has been seen on main NXT television alongside Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and now Ridge Holland.
