New WWE United States Champion Crowned At Elimination Chamber 2021
What happened when Bobby Lashley, Riddle, and John Morrison fought for the US Title last night.
Riddle is your new WWE United States Champion, besting previous title-holder Bobby Lashley and John Morrison in a Triple Threat match at last night's Elimination Chamber 2021 pay-per-view.
The bout was preceded by news that original participant Keith Lee had been pulled. WWE's kayfabe explanation of this was that The Limitless One was still recovering from injuries suffered by Lashley a few weeks ago, though Lee's questionably pay-per-view status was reported independently earlier in the week.
WWE booked a Kickoff Show four-way between Morrison, Elias, Mustafa Ali, and Ricochet to determine Lee's replacement, with Morrison taking the victory. JoMo then ended up taking the fall via Riddle's Bro Derek.
Lashley has been one of WWE's most protected wrestlers over the past 12 months, and this was a continuation of that. Riddle attacked him with a crutch prior to the finish, taking him out of the action before the decisive fall, and he seemingly moved onto bigger things following the night's main event anyway.
This is Riddle's first run with any WWE singles championship since joining the promotion in 2018. He was previously an NXT Tag Team Champion with Pete Dunne, holding the gold from February 2020 to May 2020.
