Another New Japan Pro Wrestling show has bitten the dust, with the promotion announcing (via their English-language website) that their Sakura Genesis 2020 pay-per-view set for 31 March in Tokyo has been cancelled.

A Road to Wrestling Dontaku house show booked for 11 April has also been taken off the calendar.

Sakura Genesis is the biggest NJPW to fall to current events so far, though the promotion has already cancelled 20 more shows so far, including the entire New Japan Cup and their big anniversary show. As things stand, their next show is scheduled for 12 April.

The promotion has issued the following statement"-

"We deeply apologise to fans who were looking forward to these events. Ultimately, the health and safety of our fans, wrestlers and staff, as well as society at large is our utmost concern, and we will make announcements about events scheduled after April 11 upon careful monitoring of this developing situation."

NJPW's sister promotion, Stardom, is running an attended show in Japan today, albeit on a smaller scale than Sakura Genesis, which was set to go down in the 11,000-capacity Ryogoku Kokugikan.

More on this situation as it develops.
