15. Jay White Vs. Togi Makabe (5 August)

Kenny Omega Tomohiro Ishii

Rating: **½

What happens when you combine the fossilised Togi Makabe with Jay White's increasingly repetitive heel work? A laboured shower of mediocrity, replete with the usual array of hi-jinx and chicanery.

'Switchblade' is finally growing into his role. Rough edges remaining, but he's becoming very adept at presenting himself as a sneaky, conniving villain. What harms him is that he's pulling the exact same spots almost every single night. Once you've seen one of his G1 matches, you've seen them all, but he remains a major A Block player heading into the last few days, with this bout putting him level with Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
