Though he was eliminated early and will finish the tournament with a modest win/loss record, New Japan have put real effort into elevating Hangman Page throughout his first G1. It peaked here, as the Bullet Club member pulled of one of the shocks of the tournament, besting feared shoot style sadist Minoru Suzuki with a flash Rite Of Passage.

Page initially tried to catch MiSu off-guard with a frantic pace, and nailed him with an early Moonsault from the stage. This succeeded only in angering Suzuki. A slugfest followed, with Hangman eating each of the MMA pioneer's stiffest shots, earning his twisted respect in the process.
