NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 13 (August 3) - A BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Will Ospreay Vs. EVIL

Not so much unexpectedly excellent as it was better than anybody could have assumed, the Will Ospreay/EVIL encounter was the latest addition to the 'Aerial Assassin's 2019 Wrestler Of The Year portfolio.

Exhilarating to the point of absurdity thanks to the added motivation Ospreay had to take another rival to Chaos leader Kazuchika Okada out of the competition, EVIL's surprisingly satisfying G1 Climax continued in earnest as he snuck by the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion by managing to avoid his biggest blows.

Ospreay's gorgeously-executed Oscutters weren't as effective as they were visually satisfying, but he still had the Storm Breaker and Hidden Blade saved for this particular eventuality. EVIL countered them both. Rolling free of the former, he smartly dodged the latter - in keeping one step ahead of the most futuristic performer on the entire roster, he re-emphasised the slim chance he had of actually winning the entire event.

On a night designed for his tag partner to steal the headlines, EVIL very nearly stole the show along with two valuable points. For Ospreay, it was just another night of confirming what most are coming around to believing - there are few (if any) all-rounders as impressive.
