NJPW G1 Climax 2019 Night 8 (July 24) - B BLOCK: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Jeff Cobb Vs. Jay White

Jay White is some phenom.

'The Switchblade's 2018 mega-push confused and confounded many New Japan Pro Wrestling fans for months following a tepid Wrestle Kingdom return from excursion against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Momentum shifted for the young New Zealander following a controversial corker with Juice Robinson during the company's USA tour last year, whilst 2019 has been the year where a series of scattered sweet spots have come together to form a pro wrestler complete enough to already have a lone IWGP Heavyweight Title reign under his belt.

The light and lithe touches throughout this match weren't met head on by Jeff Cobb, even though the ROH star put in one of his stronger G1 displays thus far. Ultimately, Cobb looks like he's now only there to take massive bumps, and half of those don't land as effectively as he does.

The crowd gasped as the two traded Tour Of The Islands/Blade Runner teases, but weren't there for Cobb's flips nor White's shortcuts ahead of the Bullet Club man finally scoring his first points.
