NJPW G1 Climax 30: Every Participant's Chance Of Winning Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Tomohiro Ishii

Ishii's chances are never high to take the victory, even if he's one of the most celebrated G1 performers of the modern era. Yet he's at this point on the list because he's significantly over as a talented veteran and the potential of him being pushed to a main event level for a final chance at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship that's eluded him could always be capitalised on.

He doesn't hold a secondary title other than the 6 man titles which aren't regularly defended, so that wouldn't hold him back from potentially becoming the G1 winner. He's proven to be worthy of a main event run through his performance in big matches over the last decade, and he's notoriously beloved by fans all across the world - particularly in the midst of G1 season.

The main thing holding him back is that he hasn't had a major storyline lately, being involved with the 6 man titles and not appearing on the main Summer Struggle card back in August. Additionally, despite how over he is, he's rarely been viewed as more than a midcarder in the promotion. Still, you can't completely count out the Stone Pitbull.
