"No Direct Contact" Between AEW & Goldberg After WWE Retirement (WWE News)

Sources within the company have told WrestleVotes there's no direct contact between Goldberg and AEW right now. It’s also believed that the recently-retired legend is still under contract with WWE as things stand. There obviously won’t be any direct contact or dialogue between All Elite chiefs and Goldberg whilst that’s the case.

Goldberg was "p*ssed off" at WWE's handling of his recent retirement scrap vs. Gunther at the Saturday Night's Main Event special on 12 July. Together, the pair went close to 15 minutes in-ring, but most of Bill's frustrations stemmed from a lacklustre/short build towards the match on TV and the fact his post-match promo got cut short due to time constraints.

Iconic announcer Jim Ross told fans tuning into his 'Grilling JR' show that Goldberg in AEW makes sense. He even put MJF forward as the ideal opponent for that, because he can “take big bumps” and “feed a comeback". However, it's worth reiterating that there haven't been chats between AEW and Bill since tentative talks before this latest WWE retirement push kicked off.

Previously, Goldberg also described All Elite Wrestling as "too cheesy" for his tastes.

Tony Khan
AEW

It's worth noting that AEW sources WrestleVotes spoke to said they'd also be surprised if Tony Khan tries to bring Goldberg in even after his current WWE contract is up. JR is leading the charge for 'one more match' under the #AllElite banner, but that shouldn't be taken as an indicator that Ross has spoken to Khan about anything related to Bill recently (or at all).

There's no proof that Tony has even thought about bringing Goldberg in for anything since holding brief discussions with him. WWE became Bill's full focus once again after those conversations, but this 'Goldberg working for AEW' thing just refuses to go away. Is there smoke without fire on this occasion? That's possible too.

Things might've changed in Goldberg's mind regarding AEW, or he could stick to his guns and bow out of in-ring action altogether after losing to Gunther.
