Result: Almas blasts Gargano with the Hammerlock DDT for the win (13:30).

Rating: This was easily one of the best openers in recent NXT PPV history, maintaining a fast and frantic pace throughout, while eventually giving the right man the victory, yet also again proving Gargano's mind-boggling, almost peerless in-ring skill.

The final distraction spot also impressively avoided feeling cheesy, predictable or making the fooled wrestler look dumb, as it probably would have on the main roster.

Gargano was caught off-guard by the most momentary reminder of his former teammate, and paid the price for it. It was booked and performed to perfection, and added the sort of drama that's not often seen in an opening match. 8/10
