Kushida can still shine even if he comes up short in his quest to take Gargano's North American Title from him. That's a misconception so many have about modern pro wrestling: Wins and losses do matter, sure, but people tend to remember performances above everything else.

If both men put in a shift here then have Johnny win cleanly, it'll still work. Kushida's reputation isn't going to be wrecked by losing to someone like Gargano, put it that way. Besides, he's talented enough to offset the loss by turning one great showing into several and finally building some momentum in WWE.

Gargano is a blast as a heel champ too, and his stellar North American Title shenanigans 100% do not need another hiccup like Leon Ruff's 25-day reign last November-December. Putting the belt on Kushida would be a bit of a mistake right now, especially when Johnny is doing so well with it.

WWE came back to him for a reason.
