Former ECW wrestler C.W Anderson has formally announced his retirement from active pro wrestling.

The 49 year old posted a teary video on his official Facebook page telling fans that he no longer has the same passion for wrestling he did in his youth. Then, after walking out to one of his favourite "trail spots" close to home, Anderson said now was the right time to call it a career.

C.W made his pro debut in 1993 (under a mask with no formal training) on the independent scene before finally earning his first big break by signing with ECW in 1999. There, he was presented as a solid, no-frills upper-midcarder until the company went to the wall two years later.

Anderson then returned to the indy circuit but did work a few dark matches with WWE. Eventually, following an appearance at the promotion's One Night Stand 2005 pay-per-view, he signed a deal and became part of WWE's bold new vision for ECW.

That didn't last too long - C.W was gone by 2007.

During his retirement speech, Anderson said he had no desire to do podcasts or shoot interviews about wrestling. He just wants to move on to the next chapter in his life.
