Owen - Hart Of Gold DVD Review: 14 Things You Should Know

13. Owen Goes To Stampede Wrestling

One thing that wrestling fans might not be aware of is the journey of Owen going to Stampede Wrestling. The documentary explores Owen becoming a wrestler and getting his start to set up Owen€™s debut in his Dad€™s promotion.

After various family members talk about the way Owen could jump to the top rope from the outside and do a backflip into the ring, there€™s discussion on the fact that Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart and The Bulldogs had all gone to the WWF by 1986 and there were no longer any big Hart names in the territory.

€œThere was a demand for a new sensation to carry on the Hart name€ according to Owen€™s older brother, Ross. Bret recalls how often people would tell him about how great and innovative Owen was in the ring but with Bret always being on the road with WWE, he never got a chance to see it.

There€™s some really sweet Stampede clips shown of Owen in his early days and you can tell that he was going to become a big name in North America with his exciting moveset and flashy offense.
