Predicting 10 Next WWE NXT Call-Ups To Main Roster
6. Samoa Joe
At times, you have to wonder if WWE likes to make money. They are a business after all, but they do so many counter-productive things to actually make money that its hard to be sure. Case in point is Samoa Joe spending over eight months in developmental when he was main roster ready the moment he signed his contract. If WWE is planning long term on Roman Reigns being the face of the company, then theyre going to need a line of strong heels for him to battle. The problem is, theres so few of them on the main roster. Theyve been defined down as pathetic mid-carders for so long that its going to be tough for fans to ever take them seriously. Joe has not suffered that fate, and could be a great opponent for Roman. It would be a fresh pairing, and their styles would compliment each other. However, it feels like there is a chance that Joe will never make the main roster. He certainly doesnt seem to possess the look that Vince McMahon likes in a star, and his in-ring work has slowed down a bit (understandably) over the years. Hes not the hot-upcoming rookie anymore. Maybe theyll keep him down in NXT to work with younger wrestlers and draw fans to their live events. It's not a bad living, but he could be worth so much more. Joe has a lot to offer to the company. Theres surely nothing more for him to learn down in developmental, and theres still a large audience out there that has never seen him in the ring. If WWE becomes injury plagued, or if the ratings continue to slip, you could see the man being called up at anytime.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
