Predicting AEW's Next 10 Breakout Stars

2. John Silver

You could make an argument that John Silver is already a breakout star. The Meat Man's stock has risen exponentially in recent months, as his weekly stint as the most entertaining part of Being the Elite has bled over onto international television. Yes, Silver is a comedy wrestler, but AEW has shown that it has no problem when it comes to adding legitimacy to comedy acts.

John Silver isn't new to this game. He has been wrestling for 13 years now, making waves in a variety of promotions from PWG to Chikara, and yes that is a pirate joke of sorts. He has always had a maniacal comedy to him, but those 13 years haven't been spent entirely on laughs; this guy can go, make no mistake about that.

It is difficult to gauge how far John Silver can go in AEW, but it is also important to remember that not all wrestlers have the same aims. Can John Silver be AEW World Champion? Sure, why not, but his career isn't going to be defined by championships. Will he continue to be one of the most entertaining parts of the entire AEW product? That should be the least of his aims.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
