Predicting The Future Of 10 NXT Stars
2. DIY
DIY is well overdue for a main roster call up. They were both featured in Cruiserweight video packages before the division returned on Raw, but they remained stuck in developmental for some reason. Both Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano have a lot of talent, and should both succeed once they are moved to the main roster. While in the long run they’ll probably provide more value to the company as singles stars, they should be kept together for awhile once they land on Raw or SmackDown.
Perhaps right after Mania, the two will appear on one of the main shows. They would be a better fit on Raw at the moment, as Gallows and Anderson desperately need some new teams to work with. Since they’re crowd favorites, DIY might clash a bit with American Alpha's attempt to get over on SmackDown.
When it's time for the team to go their separate ways, Gargano could end up becoming the next great underdog babyface if booked right. He’s great in the ring, and comes across as being genuinely likable. However, he doesn't have an insane amount of charisma, which may hold him back a bit. Ciampa could be (and should be) the killer of the Cruiserweight division during his eventual singles run. Hopefully Vince isn't getting tired of 205 Live, as both of them would immediately make the show more interesting.
There’s a lot to like about DIY, and both shows could badly use their energy. Now that they've ran through feuds with The Authors of Pain and The Revival, expect them to be called up by the end of summer at the latest.
Official prediction: DIY debuts the day after WrestleMania. The two capture the Tag Team Titles in 2018, and are soon split up when their reign ends. Ciampa remains a viable figure on 205 Live, while Gargano becomes that upper-midcard Zayn-like figure.
