Predicting The Future Of 10 NXT Stars

3. Bobby Roode

Booby Roode was always a reliable wrestler in TNA. He could be counted on to put on a good match or promo, but wasn’t overly flashy. He's as consistent as they get. However, he didn’t seem like someone Vince would ever hire. Somehow, as he approached 40, Roode was finally signed and given a pretty substantial NXT push right out of the gate.

Triple H will likely lobby for Bobby to be called up at some point in 2017 once his run with the NXT Title ends. At the moment, he seems like a better fit for SmackDown. Raw has landed Samoa Joe recently, and will soon be gifted with the return of Finn Balor. The blue brand needs a few new faces.

On the low end, Roode will battle guys like Kalisto or a Sami Zayn (much like Dolph Ziggler is used at this point in his career) to try and get them over. He would also be a great opponent for secondary babyface Dean Ambrose, as their characters would make for an interesting clash. At the high end, Roode could be a pay-per-view opponent for John Cena. It's unlikely he'll be completely buried when called up, as even Vince has got to love that entrance.

Despite Roode being quite Glorious, and overcoming so much working against him, it still seems like a long shot for him to hold one of the major world titles. Still, these past couple years have shown us Vince is more open to pushing acts he wouldn’t have even hired in the past, so perhaps it’s best not to rule anything for him on the main roster at this point.

Official prediction: Roode debuts on SmackDown in the fall of 2017. The high-point of his main roster career is holding the Intercontinental Title for a few months.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
