Predicting The Next 10 AEW Stars To Jump Ship To WWE
6. Buddy Matthews
Buddy Matthews is no longer the wrestling world’s ‘Best Kept Secret’ and has been tearing it up since WWE let him go. The Australian is in both the shape of his life and on the cusp of entering his wrestling prime at the age of 33, yet he has been pretty underutilised in AEW so far.
Buddy is easily the most out-of-place member of The House of Black, and the most dispensable. Clearly, Tony Khan doesn’t have huge plans for him if he is happy to let Matthews roam around the world taking his own bookings every week despite the fact that Malakai Black’s stable is a key player every week on Dynamite and Rampage.
Even in WWE, Matthews was used on TV more frequently, and that is saying something because, other than his time under Seth Rollins as his disciple, the one-time Cruiserweight Champion was a veteran amongst the catering rooms. Considering that Triple H has always seen the value of Matthews’ in-ring talent, most notably making him a major focal point of 205 Live when The Game was in charge, ‘The Juggernaut’ knows that he would be more than taken care of in the new WWE landscape.
Couple that with the fact that being in WWE would mean he has the same schedule as current squeeze Rhea Ripley, making the jump would be all too more desirable for Buddy.
