Predicting The Next 10 Alignment Changes In WWE
3. Asuka
Everyone loves Asuka - go back and listen to the monster pop she received when her music hit after her nearly year-long absence - but it feels like she's hit a wall with the current, happy-go-lucky iteration of the character.
Simply put, this version of the Empress of Tomorrow feels like a perennial bridesmaid - someone destined to get put in the title picture, but always to just fall short. This felt true even in her last title reign, where Asuka always felt like a secondary concern in other people's stories.
Asuka is too good a wrestler to be a bit-player - her performance in the seminal Hell in A Cell three way showed she hasn't lost a step after returning from injury - and hopefully a change is coming for the Empress. There have been hints of a shift in attitude - she's started wearing the attire she wore during her legendary run in NXT, and she used the Green Mist against Becky a few weeks ago - and hopefully her impending loss to Becky in the Money in the Bank qualifier causes Asuka to reawaken her inner monster.
How do we know Asuka will lose? Same way we knew Seth Rollins would beat AJ Styles when WWE released the Money in the Bank poster with Seth and Becky prominently displayed on it. Advertising department jumped the gun a bit there...
