Predicting The Next 10 First Time Universal Champions
4. Randy Orton
After Randy Orton's last WWE Championship reign, the thought of him as Universal Champion isn't exactly the most appealing idea, but it's going to happen at some point. 'The Viper' has been a regular presence on SmackDown Live since the 2016 brand extension came into effect, but he won't stick around there forever.
In Orton's defence, his character has been more interesting lately than he has been in years, and if history teaches us anything, WWE will ensure that Raw steals everything good that SmackDown has created. Furthermore, there aren't many main event level superstars on the current Raw roster and, aside from having former champions win the Universal Title back (they'll do that too), the creative team will need to pilfer some reliable champions from the blue brand. When that eventually happens, it won't take long for the veteran to make his presence felt in Raw's main event scene.
Orton may not deliver in the ring like he once did, but he's a reliable draw and a convincing champion that has a good few years left in the tank yet. The Universal Championship will wrap itself around 'The Viper's waist in the not-so-distant future.
