Predicting WWE's Top 10 Stars In 2020

10. John Cena

Four years from now, John Cena will be 43 years old. That may sound too old for someone to be one of the biggest stars in the company, but in professional wrestling, that’s really not that bad. Right now Kane, Mark Henry, R-Truth, Goldust and Chris Jericho are all older than 43. Hulk Hogan was a world champion in WCW when he was even older than that.

In a few years, it’s likely that Cena will take on a Jericho-like schedule, which he largely already has. He’ll have movies to act in, and probably some TV show commitments to make, but he’ll return for extended runs in WWE in his free time.

What almost guarantees him to still be a top guy (if he’s still healthy), is how poor of a job WWE has done creating stars since...well, Cena started. His value to the company may only increase in the coming years, as along with Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker (who will both likely be gone), he’s really the only draw under a WWE contract. As long as he’s in good shape, he’s going to stick around in some form. Seeing Cena wrestle the occasional match into his 50s doesn't even seem that far-fetched.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
