Predicting WWE WrestleMania 39 Cards 1 Year Out

Cody Rhodes, The Rock…Stifler?!? With WrestleMania 38 done, let’s predict WrestleMania 39.

That was a weekend and a half.

Cody returned, Austin wrestled, and a 76 year old company chairman took utter delight in waddling around the ring and making Pat McAfee look like a chump.

After a more or less stupendous WrestleMania where the thrills, surprises and feel good moments largely outweighed the missteps and disappointments, now might be a good time to take stock for a bit. Enjoy the moment, stop and smell the roses. Except of course that’s not how any of this works. If there’s one certainty in wrestling, it’s that it never really stops. WWE may have just delivered its annual season finale on Saturday and Sunday, but we’ve already had the new season premiere on Monday night.

So as Raw rolls on, let’s do the the same and try to imagine what awaits us at next year’s “Show of Shows.” Strangely, given that WWE creative often seems like it doesn’t know what’s happening next week, or indeed that day as Vince tears up another script, a couple of matches already seem almost inevitable.

Others meanwhile are harder to arrive at. After all, “plans change pal!”

For better or worse, here are ten matches we may find ourselves pouring over and dissecting twelve months from now.

10. Ronda Rousey Vs Becky Lynch

When “The Rowdy One” returned to WWE, there was one WrestleMania match everybody wanted to see. That match did not feature Charlotte Flair.

WWE didn’t make a bad fist of presenting Rousey Vs Flair as a big deal but you have to imagine they were deliberately holding onto the dream match for next year and, honestly, it might have been the right call.

Rousey set the bar pretty high with her incredible rookie year, but so far since her return she’s failed to reach it. She has looked uncomfortable on the mic and, worse still, tentative in the ring at times. These things are understandable given her significant time away from the ring and return after pregnancy. Things have been moving in the right direction, but it’s no bad thing that she’s got a whole year to get up to speed for “Big Time Becks.”

Speaking of which, hopefully another year is more than enough time for Becky Lynch to get her heel aspirations out her system and return to being “The Man” fans want to get behind. That’s the best version of Lynch to face Rousey at WrestleMania 39.
