Predicting WWE WrestleMania 39 Cards 1 Year Out
6. Randy Orton Vs Riddle
Everyone has been predicting an eventual split and grudge match between this pair ever since they first started tagging. It seemed the mismatched pair had only been put together in order to fall apart. So much so that they may as well have called themselves Storyline Contrivance instead of RK-Bro.
But despite various teases, Riddle and Orton have managed to repeatedly overcome their differences and grow stronger as a team. If creative were surprised how hard fans fell in love with the pair, they deserve credit for taking the ball and running with it rather than splitting the team prematurely.
Orton in particular has benefitted. Respected veteran he may be but he’s neither an exciting, explosive performer nor a Chris Jericho style master of reinvention. After 20 straight years on the roster, he desperately needed something fresh. His new role as babyface hot-tag specialist has worked out perfectly.
Still, nothing lasts forever; in fact, WWE creative will be doing well if they keep RK-Bro over for the best part of another year. If they do, they can take Orton and Riddle from tag champs at WrestleMania 38 to bitter rivals at WrestleMania 39. The video package practically writes and edits itself.
