R-Truth Shoots On "Ron Killings" Rebrand (WWE News)

R-Truth says his heavily hyped return at Money In The Bank this past June and subsequent reinvention as plain old Ron Killings "went where it was supposed to". His edgy character has cooled off significantly since the summer, and much of that coincided with John Cena hastily ditching a much-criticised heel run to go babyface again.

"Ron Killings was the rebellious one who spoke up for R-Truth". That's how the man himself sees it. He told CBS Sports that there was more demand from WWE fans for the Truth persona than Killings, so he made a choice and decided to throw his all back into that delusional, often-comedic guise instead of sticking with the harder edges of badass Ron.

This decision hasn't gone down well with everyone in the pro wrestling community. A fair number of fans on social media have expressed annoyance at WWE scrapping Ron's more menacing aura in favour of a comedy comeback. Indeed, Truth reverting to type has led to a slide down the ladder of importance on screen too, but that doesn't appear to be something the actual wrestler is too concerned about.

During the interview, Truth added the following: "Ron Killings has been around for years, but people had never come together in lockstep like that. They did that for R-Truth. You feel me? I wanted Ron Killings to go where he was supposed to go. He made a statement. He had eyes on him. When John Cena came back, R-Truth came back. Ron Killings was the cavalry".

So, there you have it - you probably won't be seeing the wild-eyed, more violent aspects of Truth/Killings on episodes of Raw or SmackDown in the future. That run was shortlived.
