6. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Hilariously Over-The-Top Performance

Rampage Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Warner Bros.

Rampage's easy MVP is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who appears as shady government agent Harvey Russell, and though he initially seems to be an obstacle to the heroes, he quickly becomes their charming, eccentric ally.

Morgan clearly knows what sort of movie he's in and plays up to it wonderfully, touting a ridiculous southern drawn and elongating every syllable of dialogue accordingly.

His rootin' rootin' performance ensures a potentially stale government spook character is instead an easy highlight.

Nobody else in the film is as in-tune with the film's wilfully schlocky sensibilities as he, and he delivers most of the big laughs without ever looking down on the material (which is an incredibly fine line to walk).
