Randy Orton Hits Out At Neck Surgery Rumours

RKO to Dave Meltzer.

Randy Orton has said that he doesn't need neck surgery, and is ahead of schedule for coming back from shoulder surgery. In an angry instagram post, he lashed out at Dave Meltzer, blaming the Wrestling Observer Newsletter scribe for spreading "gossip." While Meltzer inevitably does get the occasional story wrong, he does get a majority of his information correct. He's one of the most informed men in the wrestling industry. Clearly, in Orton's case, there's been a bad source. On the brighter side, it is great to hear that Orton's condition isn't as bad as first feared. Potentially, he could even be back for WrestleMania. He's ahead of schedule and is pumped to get back. The shoulder surgery went down in early December, so he's still up against it to be back for April, but faster recovery times are possible. The potential neck surgery was the more serious threat, as that would have came after he recovered from the shoulder. That would have meant a year of missed time, most likely ruling him out of WrestleMania 33. It could have been a potential retirement scenario. Orton's Instagram post in full said-
"I see many of you think I need neck surgery. I heard weeks ago that Meltzer stated it as a fact. I don't keep up with gossip, so I didn't think anything of it. As far as my shoulder, I was cut on 12/8. Things are ahead of schedule and I'm pumped to get back to work. As far as my neck, and I'm only debunking this 'fact' for the sincerely concerned fans, I DONT need neck surgery. Remember, unless you hear about it on WWE.com, you really should take everything you read online concerning pro wrestling with a grain of salt."
Of course, WWE.com is a constant work, so an even bigger grain of salt should be taken with that website.
