Ranking 10 Greatest Ever MMA Fighters From The UK & Ireland

1. Conor McGregor (21-4)

Anyone who is surprised to see Conor McGregor in the number one spot hasn’t been following the sport very closely – or at all.

The native of Dublin, Ireland, is not only the biggest star from his home country; he’s also the biggest name in all of mixed martial arts. McGregor has got promoting fights down to a science and is one of the best trash-talkers of his generation.

The last five UFC pay-per-view events he headlined all had well over a million buys. UFC 229, in which he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov in September of 2018, sold over 2.4 million PPVs – making it the most-watched UFC event of all-time.

Of course, the Irishman is more than just a big draw; he is also a very accomplished fighter. McGregor has held UFC gold in two different weight classes, both featherweight, and lightweight. He holds notable victories over several current and former champs including Jose Aldo, Max Holloway, and Dustin Poirier.

His fighting future is somewhat uncertain at the moment. However, his status as one of the sports' all-time greats has certainly already been established.
