In 1999, Matt & Jeff Hardy and Edge & Christian were barely a blip on the radar of most WWE fans. These four former vampires (that's a real thing) were struggling to gain stage time during an era of wrestling that cared less about in-ring athleticism and more about over-the-top storylines. But at No Mercy, they pulled back the curtain on their insane amounts of talent and fearlessness.

Although they'd cement their statuses as undisputed kings of the ladder match in the years that followed -- one-upping themselves at WrestleMania 2000, SummerSlam 2000, and WrestleMania X-Seven -- this is the match that got them the mainstream recognition they deserved.

You can pretty much see the individual moments each participant became a star. For Jeff, it was the second he leapfrogged a ladder from the top turnbuckle and dropped a flying leg onto Christian. Whereas for Christian, it was the instant he hurled his body off the top rope at the ladder the Hardy brothers were holding, clotheslining them and fully wrecking himself in the process.

The following night on Raw, the four men came out into the ring and shook hands, receiving a thunderous standing ovation from those in attendance. If there was any question they'd become stars, that closed the door on any debate.
