14. Forgotten Sons

On the other side of the coin, you have the Forgotten Sons, a trio that debuted after WrestleMania 36 and immediately made an impact on SmackDown.

Although the group never captured tag team gold in NXT, they appeared to be poised to finally break through on the blue brand. They challenged for the tag titles once and were still in the conversation in June… when Jaxson Ryker’s tweeting and political leanings derailed the stable.

Ryker decided at the height of the Black Lives Matter and George Floyd protests was a good time to tweet his support for President Trump – in actuality, it was moments after the president had protesters dispersed with tear gas for a photo op in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church, a move that was widely criticized.

The tweet was met with immediate backlash by wrestlers and mainstream media alike, and the Forgotten Sons suddenly disappeared from WWE TV. It should be noted that Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler immediately distanced themselves from Ryker’s comments and supported the protests. Still, all three were off television until very recently, when Cutler & Blake showed up as “knights” helping King Corbin, and Ryker returned as Elias’ groupie/heavy.

But man, one tweet completely ruined this group and sent them into purgatory for nearly six months. What a crappy debut year.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
