Humberto Carrillo has followed a similar trajectory to Cedric Alexander in 2019, albeit in a quicker fashion.

Carrillo debuted on Raw in October, challenging then-WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and going toe-to-toe with the champ. The following week, he battled then-United States Champion AJ Styles, losing another competitive match. Humberto would win a battle royal at Crown Jewel to earn a US title shot later that night, which he lost.

With a lack of fan reaction evident, Carrillo seemingly was throttled down the card, losing a few matches and looking like he was going to slowly become another undercard wrestler in a crowded field.

But just this past month, Carrillo defeated Andrade twice in a row, sparking thoughts that maybe WWE hasn’t given up on him yet. That late hope spot helped boost Humberto in these rankings.
