Ranking 2015's WWE PPV Endings From Worst To Best

13. Survivor Series (November 22): Shameless

Main Event: Roman Reigns versus Dean Ambrose What Happened: Following Seth Rollins's knee injury, the tournament to crown a new WWE Champion came down to his former Shield partners, Reigns and Ambrose. Reigns scored a quick victory, but after being presented with the belt, he was confronted by WWE COO Triple H. "The Game" once again attempted to form an alliance with Reigns, but the new WWE Champion responded with a Spear. At that point, Sheamus jumped Reigns, cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, and defeated Reigns for the title. Why It Was Devastating To The Company: Once again, reaction to a big Reigns win was underwhelming, but this time, WWE would head the fans off at the pass - they'd have Reigns get screwed over by a heel so bland, boring, and poorly-booked that The Big Dog would become a de facto fan favorite. If that sounds like a bad idea, it was - fans were horrified by the idea of also-ran Sheamus suddenly and implausibly becoming WWE Champion, but it translated into disinterest in the product. As a result of his win, ratings tanked - the episode of Raw following Survivor Series was the lowest-rated of the past 18 years. The finish was a redux of the well-executed SummerSlam 2013 ending (which, it should be mentioned, ultimately led to underwhelming business in the fall of that year), but this time, nobody cared about the players and the execution was lacking. Roman Reigns has since recaptured the WWE Championship and seems to have finally gained fan support, but if his acceptance turns out to be short-lived and business doesn't improve, the end of the Survivor Series - where WWE's decision-makers felt comfortable egregiously insulting the audience rather than listening to them to try to make a new star - might prove to be the company's most notable failure.
