Really, there was no great way to bring back someone like Eva Marie to the fold. The former diva was little more than eye candy during her first run and had proven to be horrific in the ring. She was little more than a valet and heat machine.

So naturally, WWE built her up as an inspirational figure in a series of vignettes this spring, but it was all a swerve, as she was just a hypocritical heel who had Piper Niven – whom she renamed Doudrop – in tow. Eva “wrestled” sparingly, but even those limited appearances revealed that she hadn’t improved a lick.

Her relationship and subsequent feud with Doudrop was a disaster, and she was written off TV in September to film a movie. Less than two months later, Eva Marie was released from WWE, ending her big return after just one year.
