Your heart has to go out to someone like Tegan Nox, who overcame multiple injuries and kept persevering in WWE.

Nox finally got the callup to the main roster in July, but rather than coming in as a flashy singles star, she was partnered with Shotzi Blackheart, who herself had been in a tag team in NXT with Ember Moon. So rather than call Shotzi and Moon up together as a tag team, they hacked off half of Nox and Shotz’s names and stuck them together on SmackDown.

The duo actually did OK, defeating the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina three times and yet never received a tag title match. Nox didn’t have another televised match after August, and she would be released in mid-November as part of yet another “cost-cutting” move.

Only 27, the now-rechristened Nixon Newell hopefully has plenty of time in front of her to prove just how wrong WWE was in releasing her.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
