7. The Rock
The first of two men on this list to win the WWE Championship more than a decade after their previous reign, The Rock was heavily criticised for a light schedule while in possession of the belt. Although his eighth spell with the belt injected a hearty dose of nostalgia into proceedings, many fans saw through the reign as a thinly-disguised excuse to hold a second successive Rock vs Cena WrestleMania main event. In his defence, Rocky brought a much-needed sense of legitimacy back to the title, instantly transforming any of his matches into a marquee event. He defeated CM Punk to win the belt at Royal Rumble 2013, won their rematch at Elimination Chamber, and eventually lost to Cena at 'Mania 29 - a huge trio of matches. Ultimately, however, Rock's solitary title reign of this decade won't be remembered too favourably - especially by fans of CM Punk, whose extensive reign was abruptly ended to make room for an ageing star of the past.
